Can LOVE be a MISTAKE?

Question

Can LOVE be a MISTAKE?

Answer

The answer depends entirely on what you are speaking about when you use the word LOVE.brbrIf you use the word to describe an overwhelming fondness, then Yes, it can be. Examples here are the diabetic who loves sugar or the alcoholic who loves whiskey these can kill.brbrIf you use the word to describe an attraction between people which are technically a crush, limerence or a romantic attraction, then Yes again. These conditions never last and always fail or fade over time. Although some might consider these as necessary feelings, these are usually associated with major mistakes since they are often mistaken for Love.brbrIf you use the word to describe an emotional state between humans which is lasting and unconditional, then the answer is No, it is not a mistake. The love of a mother for her child is key to the bonding and stability which is necessary for the production of well adjusted adults capable of Loving another adult human. Without Love there are no long term human bonds other than slavery.brbrAny philosopher who would claim that Love is a Mistake is probably a human who has felt strong emotional attachments and been hurt because they thought that they were in Love.
